Deakin Edge at Federation Square in Melbourne was brought to life with splashes of wondrous colour, lively music and harmonious voices. Ukrainian dance and song was the feature of the performance program on Sunday, 17th August 2014 to celebrate the 23rd year of Ukrainian Independence and honour the 200th Anniversary since the birth of Taras Shevchenko, a highly regarded Ukrainian poet and artist.
Verchovyna were very proud to perform at this special occasion in front of a packed gallery which included the Hon. Matthew Guy MLC – Minister for Planning and for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship, the Hon. Nicholas Kotsiras – former Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship, Telmo Languiller MP – Shadow Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition and Multicultural Affairs, and Stefan Romaniw OAM – Chairman of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations.
