On Sunday 26th October, our Senior and Intermediate groups were invited to perform alongside our Polish friends from the Lowicz Polish Vocal-Dance Ensemble at their annual Lowicz & Friends ‘Echoes of our Homeland’ concert in Dandenong.
Arriving early for a quick rehearsal on stage, the dancers had time to mingle with the other performing cultural groups including Serbian, Hungarian, Polish and Chinese dancers!
It was a warm and welcoming environment that all the dancers appreciated, learning about each other’s cultures and swapping histories. The dancers especially loved how after each performing group walked backstage, they were met by a roar of cheers and congratulations from the other groups!
Entertaining the audience with our signature Huljanochka dance was a great feeling, as the Volyn style is very similar to that of our Polish counterparts. We fit right in!
